What to
Do in Shrewsbury

The tourist information centre (www.visitshrewsbury.com ) is situated in the Museum in the Square which is very nearby and about two minutes away from the Apartment. (www.shrewsburymuseums.com ). Ask at the TIC about organised town walking tours which are very interesting and a brilliant way to fully appreciate the town.

The main park in Shrewsbury is called the Quarry and is a lovely spacious green area right in the town centre. The River Severn meanders through the Quarry making a lovely focus. The Dingle is the central area where there is always a lovely floral display whatever the season. Percy Thrower was parks attendant in Shrewsbury in an early stage of his career and was responsible for the beautiful layout which we enjoy today.

At the top of the Quarry is St Chad’s Church. The church was built in the late 18th century. It has a wonderful circular nave. (www.stchadschurchshrewsbury.com )

Shrewsbury Castle where our regimental museum is housed is well worth a visit. For information see www.shrewsburymuseums.com

But much of what there is to see in Shrewsbury is literally just what you see as you wander around the town, taking in the historic buildings, exploring the shuts and passages as you appreciate the different architectural styles of the buildings through the centuries.

When you tire of sightseeing what about an evening at the theatre or visit our lovely small arts cinema?
